Murwillumbah Wedding Ceremonies
Murwillumbah is an underestimated location for weddings. Besides lots of small parks and reserves in the area, the Tweed River which flows through the centre of town is a lovely backdrop for a wedding. With a decent sized carpark to one end of this particular location, it is convenient, inviting and surprisingly quiet. The scene on the river is forever changing, whether with kayaks passing or the occasional small craft. The sky is always changing as well, lending a brightness to any day. Even when cloudy, there is something so special about the formations.
Another terrific venue in South Murwillumbah is the Tweed River House. It too fronts water with a jetty and a pontoon in front. Late 2025 I officiated a ceremony there and found it to be a little slice of tropical paradise. Well maintained tropical gardens, neat lawns, a sloping area with stairs where the bride and groom can stand for all their guests to see and hear ... seriously, it's one of the best small venues I've visited while marrying couples in the Northern Rivers region.
Wherever you choose in this area, if the river isn't within the backdrop, don't forget the local mountains. Mount Warning is a well known feature in the area, standing majestically inland.
Don't forget your guests might want to look around the local area as well. The Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre (below left) is one of my favourites and definitely a must to visit. Margaret Olley's Sydney based work area has been transferred and reassembled just as it was when she was busy painting her amazing works of art.
