Getting Married in Tweed
Whether you want an outdoor wedding or the convenience of a purpose built venue, you are so spoiled for choice in the Tweed Heads / Coast area. You can dress up or down! It's totally your choice. Of course there is always a risk with outdoor weddings, so you do need a backup. My favourite venues in the Tweed River area include Pioneer Country and Osteria. But as you can see from the photos included here, though it can get stormy and windy, some couples like Kryz and Kenth persevere and wait for a break in the weather before going ahead with the ceremony. Christmas Beach, above, is on the Brunswick River and a brilliant spot for small weddings, with a big carpark at one end and pristine water adjoining golden sand. It's simply stunning.
Because I'm based in Alstonvale, driving to any venue in the Tweed area is easy for me. If by chance you aren't certain of where you want to marry, I'm very happy to advise on locations which I've experienced first hand. On the other hand, I love learning about new places as well. As a celebrant, I get introduced to public and private spaces that never fail to impress. Fresh air and warm temperatures modified by the influence of the Pacific Ocean combine to make life brilliant here on the Tweed Coast. Back yards, gardens, local parks, lakes and estuaries all have their own charm as well. Your venue decision should purely be based on what best suits you and your partner.
I'll be honest and tell you the high vantage point below, Cabarita Headland, where Brittney and Mark chose to marry, did get my heart rate up as I walked up the boardwalk and stairs. But, the effort was worth it I'm sure you'd agree. It had special significance for the couple who chose an elopement style wedding. Would you believe their photographer agreed to be one of their witnesses and my husband was the other? So there were only five people present at what was a beautifully private, short "legals only ceremony". Cam and Giulia's Christmas Beach wedding was also a simple "legals only ceremony"; but their choice was influenced by Covid when a maximum of 5 attendees including the celebrant was allowed to attend.
One key thing to remember when you want to marry on a beach, at a park or other venue is parking. Wherever you choose, don't expect your guests to walk a long way, especially if you're inviting grandparents or elderly friends. The other consideration is the presence of young children and potential safety risks. I have to tell you the headland where Kryz and Kenth married (Kingscliff Headland) was so windy some of the paperwork was actually whisked away and fortunately chased down by the best man. He managed to retrieve one of the three forms to be signed, immediately after the ceremony, from the Kangaroo Grass below the mowed grass area! That was another heart stopping moment, though of course I did have a spare, just in case!
Don't forget there are also lots of clubs, art galleries, rainforest areas and small towns to visit off the beaten track e.g. Uki. Because the Tweed occupies the largest caldera in the Southern Hemisphere, the fertile volcanic soils produce amazing tropical fruits, vegetables and even coffee plantations. Wollumbin Mount Warning is a remnant central vent of an ancient volcano and is said to be a 'cloud catcher' as warm moist air from the sea rises and moves over the landmark. So not only is the Tweed a great place to marry, it's also a brilliant area for a honeymoon.
If the thought of marrying in this area resonates with you, whether you live in Brisbane, Sydney, on the Gold Coast or interstate, we can arrange your ceremony with ease. All you need to do is go to my Home page and click the Contact icon. It's a simple as that to begin a conversation that could mean you and your partner will have a wedding like nobody else you know. I can also promise that my ceremony scripts are never repeats of others. Like every couple, their script will be unique.
